Help for Lollipop, a blind mare

From Lisa, owner of the mare, Lollipop:

“We’ve spoken about my blind mare Lollipop and how the transition to her new home (with her companion) was a real challenge. I really wasn’t sure what to do and at that point I called you.

I want to give you an update about her. The CBD saved her life! After watching her suffer for 5 very long weeks and walk miles of circles in her paddock, she has finally stopped.

Thursday was her best day ever – no circle walking after 6 a.m. For the first 6 days of treatment, there was some intermittent, but brief circling. I have a security camera on her, so I have been able to closely monitor her progress. It is like the switch that got flipped on during our move, has finally been turned off. I cannot express the relief this has given me. All day Thursday after breakfast, no walking, same yesterday, and again this morning, no walking. Also, during those first 5 weeks, she was walking so much that she was laying down a lot. She was physically exhausted – poor girl. She is laying down less frequently now and already appears to be filling out a bit. She had dropped quite a bit of weight.

For the record:

I started her on 28g twice daily (560mg CBD/day) combined with 500mg B1 crumbles twice daily (1000mg/day). I saw absolutely no adverse side effects. She was alert, engaging, eating and drinking normally. I didn’t really intend on starting with this high of a dose, but since this where I accidentally started, I decided to just stick with it – glad I did.

Friday I began dropping her CBD intake. She received 520mg CBD for the day. I think I will drop her dosage every 3rd day as long as her mental state remains stable.

I must admit that the CBD therapy was a “hail Mary” throw in my book. I had exhausted all my other options. This was going to be my last attempt to avoid euthanasia and I came in skeptical -Having never used CBD for medicinal purposes. Well, I am a confirmed believer! This stuff works!

My goal is to get her down to 200mg/day as I think I will continue to use this product for maintenance. She is 26 and I know our time together is limited. All I ever wanted was to give her a few more comfortable years of retirement in our new home together. It seems we are on the right path to achieve that dream.

Thank you for everything!”

Mach’s relief from Polyneuritis

This is Mach, a beloved member of the Karl family.  We know we’re probably being too sentimental but to have a special horse and then have them diagnosed with a disease such as polyneuritis is devastating.  This disease is very similar to multiple sclerosis in people.

“Mach has been on Hope Botanicals CBD pellets for one month now.  He is now down to 1/4 tablet of previcox once a day.  On Friday, he bucked in his field and cantered in to get fed, for the first time in a year!” – Betsey

We love to hear these stories.  It makes us pretty warm and fuzzy:)

Ulcer Relief for Spartan

Ulcer Relief for Spartan

Where to begin….I purchased Spartan as a 3-month-old in the year of 2011 and he came to live with me a 5 months old.  I have done all the training and care for Spartan.  I have always instilled a low grain/high fiber diet, access to grass or hay 24/7 and tons of turn out.  I also attempt to keep stress levels down in all my horse’s lives. One would think I was doing everything right to prevent ulcers.  At the age of 5 I started to trailer him more frequently for lessons and a few shows and by that fall he was exhibiting behavior issues.  Many said it was him just being five years old. However, my gut told me otherwise. I decided to scope him and found he had grade 2 ulcers.  Did the Ulcergard 30-day treatment, rescoped and he was healed.  Yipee right?  Well, we still experienced some behavioral issues that told me not all was well so I continued to look into it further.  We then treated for hind gut ulcers. With great success, he was finally feeling better. The behaviors went away and he was going great. It has now been 2.5 years of treating and re-treating for ulcer fair ups.  It was clear to me that no matter how much I tried to keep “stress” out of his life, he was prone to getting ulcers.  He has always been a super sensitive horse, reactive and over thinks everything. Over the last 2.5 years, I have spent $1000’s of dollars on every supplement that you could imagine. I decided that throwing all these ulcer treatments at him was just not going to do the trick. I had to get to the core of the issue  So I decided to do two things; 1. I took him off all his supplements and put him on the very basics, hay, grass, a very small amount of grain and a vitamin supplement called Equipride and 2. put him on CBD oil.  I decided on CBD oil for two reasons, to help with anxiety and inflammation.  Hope Botanicals CBD oil has been absolutely amazing.  The change in Spartan’s reactiveness is impressive, he finally seems at peace with himself and he is moving better than ever.  He has more articulation in his joints and is so much more focused in his work. His coat is amazing and he is the fattest he has ever been in his life.  Jenna has been so helpful and quick to answer all my questions and so supportive. I initially reached out to her months ago but my vets pooh-poohed the thought of CBD oil.  I regret that I didn’t try it sooner.  Thank you Jenna and Hope Botanicals for such a great product.   – Jody

Gus and Stella

We  love getting feedback on our products.  Our Dog Chews and Natural Tincture are helping these two a lot.  Aren’t they just darling?

“I have 4 dogs…all seniors. .  I bought it for my pug Gus who is 13ish (black pug) He has lots of cognitive issues, the main one being that at night he wakes up and paces the house scratches to get on the bed then jumps off…and the cycle just repeats itself for hours.  I had tried some other brands of CBD and did not really see any difference.  We had also tried medications…Gabapentin, Trazadone Anipryl  etc that also did not help at all.  I saw something on social media about your product and decided to give it a try.  It has worked wonders for him…he gets 1/2 a chew at night before bed and sleeps through the night.

I also have a 16 year old pug who is healthy, but very arthritic she has gotten so grumpy lately and she frets about everything.   She is already on rimadyl and gabapentin and I do not want to up the dose on those, so I started giving it to her also twice a day just to try to help her mood. and hopefully help with any pain she is having.  She seems much more comfortable and the fretting has gotten much better.”  Alana

Arthritis Relief for Buster

Meet Magic Kinda Silver, retired AQHA/PBHA all around, three times PBHA Champion.  Buster didn’t really want to retire at age 19, so his owner Theresa,  and Buster, teach young children how to ride.  Buster was getting a little grumpy giving all those lessons and started not wanting to do his job.  Theresa knew he really liked staying active, but figured he was in some pain.  She was giving him a popular non-steroidal anti-inflammatory but that didn’t really help him much.  Theresa decided to try the CBD pellets and within days Buster was much happier, calmer and happy to do his job.  Theresa now has all her horses on CBD because she’s seen the difference CBD can make.

We want to thank Theresa for sharing her story.  We love happy beginnings:)

Relief for Waylon

This is Waylon.  He had ulcers and as of a few months ago his ulcers are gone. However, 1/3 of his stomach is permanently damaged with extensive scar tissue and he has “tenting” which has changed the way his stomach works. Judging by the findings he’s most likely had ulcers most of his life. He has a significant scar on his back hoof where the whole heel bulb and 1/4 of his foot was either removed or was barley hanging on. No clue when or how it happened, he came to me with it. He’s considered chronic by the vets at OSU and that he won’t ever be “cured”. It’s a pretty sad situation and I’m not sure what to do. He’s unhappy and in pain most days. The CBD helps take the edge off and has allowed him a respite from windsucking as he was chronic with this and even able to windsuck with a cribbing collar.  I’m happy he is getting some relief with the CBD pellets.

Amazing Healing for Don

Don Merisse: 2002 Hanoverian Prix St. George Dressage Gelding

So I got him in September of 2016.  He was given to me because he was dangerous – he would spin and rear frequently, and he has shivers.  I believe he was in pain then, and being forced to work through it, which was the major reason he had behavior issues.  He was very shut down emotionally.

In December of that year, he tore his LF suspensory.  I tried to do his rehab myself, but when it came time to start tack walking him, he was extremely dangerous.  He was angry, pent up, and neurotic.  I took him to a rehab facility to help me.

I finally got to the point where he was trotting laps under saddle (June 2017) but he had a terrible attitude…he had pretty much given up on life.  He colicked that month, and had to go to Rood & Riddle for surgery, where they removed a six foot long impaction.  He then flared up with a case of salmonella while at the hospital (apparently common when their immune systems are stressed) and he was put into quarantine, which further depressed him.  His recovery was complicated by the shivers, so multiple times he went down and wasn’t able to get up, and had to be put in a sling.

When I finally brought him home to my farm, he still had to be in quarantine for 30 days.  In the fall of 2017 I tried to bring him back to work, but he had severe behavioral problems, he was dangerous again, and he was lame.  The suspensory had healed, but all the time on stall rest over the past year had caused his shivers and arthritis to become unmanageable.  We tried bute, and previcox, and injections – none of it really made a difference.

By early 2018, I didn’t know what to do.  Because of his shivers, he needed to stay in work, but I couldn’t seem to get him going.  He wasn’t a good candidate for retirement, because he doesn’t do well staying outside for long, he can’t be barefoot, and he was getting progressively more depressed and angry.  He was lunging at horses, pinning his ears at people, including me, and over all had a vibe of “I give up.”  I began to think about euthanasia because I couldn’t seem to provide quality of life for him no matter what I tried.

Then Excel Eq Supplements approached me about a sponsorship, and putting Don on that product seemed to help make him a little healthier and more comfortable.  He was able to start doing some light work, and that seemed to help the shivers.  We were making slow progress, but he was still lame on his LF and RH.  I would frequently have to give him quite a bit of bute to help with that, which I knew wasn’t good for him, but I had so many variables to juggle with this horse.  Even then, the bute only helped a little. Some days were worse than others.  He still had days where he would rear and spin, but at least his mood overall had improved some.

When I started him on the CBD, he became completely sound in 2-3 days.  Since then, his ability and willingness to work has improved exponentially. He is hardly spooky at all now.  A year ago, I was terrified of this horse.  Now we can hack outside the arena, gallop in the fields, and have fun.  I don’t think this horse has ever been able to do that in his entire life.  The CBD has made him sound physically and mentally.  He has even started to bond more deeply with me– I think because he’s actually happy.  Words cannot express how much that means to me.

I can’t believe how much more effective the CBD is than anything else I’ve ever used with Don or any other horse.  100% recommend it to everyone!

CBD for Goats!!!

Have you heard of using CBD for goats?

We wanted to share this testimonial about a customer using CBD for goats. By now we shouldn’t be amazed by what CBD can do, but we’re always so pleased to hear it firsthand. We love to pass on information like this so we can all learn the benefits.

CBD for goats

“Hi. I don’t know if you have ever had success stories with use in goats, but I have been using these pellets in a few of my goats now for a month. One has arthritis issues, another just kidded and is stressed as well as has immune system dysfunction from an infection. It’s amazing stuff. I definitely see a shift in their attitude and behavior and I am hoping it helps their pain and discomfort as well!”

How amazing is that! We are so happy to hear about how our hemp products are benefiting our customers and their animals. CBD for goats – who knew!?

Check out our CBD pellets for horses and pets in our shop.

CBD for Cash!

This is Cash, a once in a lifetime horse for this family that has won her fair share in her 19 years.  She’s a breakaway, heeling, calf horse, polebending, goat tying machine.  She started developing some pretty big knots on her knees from arthritis and her family was thinking she would have to retire.  About 5 months ago they put her on Hope Botanicals CBD 750mg tincture for the knots and general lameness.  This is how she looks today.  Pretty fast!  This short video is Cash and Jes winning a a go round at an open breakaway.  We’re pretty warm and fuzzy about this story:) #HopeBotanicals #CBD #Hopeforhealing

Pain Relief for Cooper

This is Cooper, a 10 year old lab mix.   Cooper has osteosarcoma and has had his left front leg amputated.  His owners elected not to do chemotherapy treatment and eased him off his pain meds, with the help of Hope Botanicals natural CBD.  Cooper is recovering super well and his owners are attributing this to CBD.  Cooper is getting 15mg of  our Natural Flavor CBD twice per day.  He’s a happy dog and is back to his old self.  Needless to say, his owners are very happy with his recovery
